Background

Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a critical glycoprotein involved in lipid metabolism, lipid transport, and cholesterol homeostasis. ApoE is synthesized primarily in the liver, brain, and adipose tissue and is a major component of chylomicron remnants, VLDL, and HDL particles.
