Descripción
Dmx like 1 (DMXL1) is a protein that belongs to the WD40-repeat-containing family and plays a role in intracellular trafficking, signaling, and vesicle-mediated transport. DMXL1 contains multiple WD40 repeats, which mediate interactions with other proteins and are critical for its function in coordinating vesicular transport and signaling pathways. DMXL1 has been implicated in endocytosis and exocytosis processes, facilitating the trafficking of membrane proteins and receptors. It is widely expressed across tissues but shows enriched activity in neural and endocrine cells, where vesicle transport is crucial for neurotransmitter release and hormone secretion. Emerging research has suggested that DMXL1 may also influence cellular metabolism by regulating endosomal recycling pathways linked to nutrient uptake. Dysregulation of DMXL1 has been associated with neurological and metabolic disorders, where impaired vesicle trafficking disrupts normal cellular communication and energy balance.
