Descripción

DENN domain containing 1C (DENND1C) functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for Rab GTPases, primarily Rab35, and is essential for regulating endosomal recycling, membrane dynamics, and vesicular trafficking processes. Through its DENN domain, DENND1C facilitates the activation of Rab35 by catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP, ensuring proper vesicle sorting and transport within the cell. It plays a key role in cytokinesis by contributing to the recycling of plasma membrane components required for cell division. DENND1C is also involved in receptor recycling, signal transduction, and membrane trafficking, which are critical for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Its expression across a variety of tissues indicates its broad functionality, but recent research highlights its specific roles in immune responses, including antigen presentation and cytokine signaling. Dysregulation of DENND1C has been associated with defects in membrane trafficking and signaling, suggesting potential links to immune disorders and cellular stress responses.
