Descripción
DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 4 (DCAF4) is a member of the WD40 protein family that acts as a substrate receptor within the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. DCAF4 is critical for identifying and binding specific proteins to facilitate their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation via the proteasome. The protein’s WD40 domains are key to its substrate specificity and interactions with the E3 ligase machinery. DCAF4 is widely expressed across various tissues, with notable involvement in processes such as cell cycle regulation, DNA damage repair, and transcriptional control. Its functions are thought to contribute to maintaining genomic stability and responding to cellular stress. Research has suggested a possible link between DCAF4 dysfunction and disease states, including cancer, due to its role in regulating protein turnover and signaling pathways. The identification of its substrate proteins will further clarify its role in both normal cellular processes and pathological conditions.
