Background
AGBL2 is another tubulin-modifying enzyme that regulates microtubule stability by cleaving polyglutamate chains from tubulin. It is expressed in various tissues, including the brain, where it contributes to neuronal function, axonal transport, and synaptic organization. AGBL2 plays a role in neurodegenerative diseases, with studies linking its dysregulation to tauopathies, including Alzheimer's disease, where abnormal polyglutamylation of microtubules contributes to neuronal dysfunction. In addition to its neural roles, AGBL2 has been implicated in cancer, where it modulates cell division and migration through its influence on the cytoskeleton.
