Description
BCHE Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against BCHE. Mutant alleles at the BCHE locus are responsible for suxamethonium sensitivity. Homozygous persons sustain prolonged apnea after administration of the muscle relaxant suxamethonium in connection with surgical anesthesia. The activity of pseudocholinesterase in the serum is low and its substrate behavior is atypical. In the absence of the relaxant, the homozygote is at no known disadvantage.

BCHE antibody
This gene encodes a cholinesterase enzyme and member of the type-B carboxylesterase/lipase family of proteins. The encoded enzyme exhibits broad substrate specificity and is involved in the detoxification of poisons including organophosphate nerve agents and pesticides, and the metabolism of drugs including cocaine, heroin and aspirin. Humans homozygous for certain mutations in this gene exhibit prolonged apnea after administration of the muscle relaxant succinylcholine.
