Background

Death domain-containing protein CRADD, also known as RIP, is involved in mediating cellular responses to stress, particularly in the regulation of apoptosis. It contains a death domain (DD) and serves as a key adaptor protein in the signaling pathways triggered by death receptors. CRADD is known to participate in the formation of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) when activated by signals such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) or Fas ligand (FasL), leading to the activation of caspases and subsequent apoptosis. In addition, CRADD has been implicated in other processes, such as inflammation and neurodegeneration.
