Descripción

Bradykinin Receptor B2 (BDKRB2) is a constitutively expressed GPCR that binds bradykinin, a peptide involved in the regulation of inflammatory responses, vasodilation, and pain signaling. BDKRB2 is widely expressed in endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and neurons, where it mediates vasodilation by stimulating the production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostacyclins. These effects help maintain blood flow and regulate vascular tone. In addition to its cardiovascular roles, BDKRB2 is involved in pain perception and edema formation during acute inflammation by increasing vascular permeability. In the kidneys, BDKRB2 contributes to sodium excretion and the regulation of blood pressure through the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). Dysregulation of BDKRB2 has been implicated in hypertension, pulmonary edema, and inflammatory diseases, such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. BDKRB2 also plays roles in cancer biology, where its activation can promote tumor angiogenesis and invasion. Pharmacological modulation of BDKRB2 signaling, either through agonists or antagonists, has potential therapeutic applications for cardiovascular diseases, pain management, and inflammatory conditions.
