Bovine serum albumin (also known as BSA or "Fraction V") is a globular protein used extensively as a carrier protein to dilute antibodies. Because is a small, stable, moderately non-reactive protein, it is often used as a general protein blocking agent in immunoassays and immunodetection protocols.
