Descripción

AHRR is a transcriptional repressor that negatively regulates the AHR signaling pathway. It is induced by AHR activation as part of a negative feedback loop and functions by competing with AHR for dimerization with ARNT or binding to XREs to inhibit AHR-mediated transcription. AHRR is expressed in various tissues, including the liver, lungs, and immune cells, and is involved in maintaining the balance of AHR activity, preventing excessive or prolonged responses to environmental toxins. Dysregulation of AHRR has been associated with cancer, particularly in lung cancer and gastric cancer, where reduced AHRR expression leads to enhanced AHR activity and tumor-promoting effects. In addition to its role in xenobiotic detoxification, AHRR also participates in regulating immune responses and maintaining cellular homeostasis, with emerging evidence highlighting its involvement in inflammation and metabolic disorders.
