It also contributes to maintaining Golgi organization, regulating secretory pathway efficiency, and supporting protein maturation processes. TMED4 is widely expressed across various tissues, particularly in actively secreting cells, where it supports cellular homeostasis and organelle function. Dysregulation of TMED4 is associated with neurodegeneration, metabolic disorders, and cancers, where altered trafficking pathways lead to protein mislocalization and cellular stress.
