Description

Acts as an A-kinase anchoring protein by binding to the type II regulatory subunit of protein kinase A and anchoring it to the mitochondrion. Also involved in synchronization of mitochondrial fission(PubMed:12186851). Plays a role in the maturation of phagosomes that engulf pathogens, such as S.aureus and M.tuberculosis(PubMed:21255211). Plays an important role in the control of melanin production and melanosome biogenesis(PubMed:23084991). In concert with RAB38, regulates the proper trafficking of melanogenic enzymes TYR, TYRP1 and DCT/TYRP2 to melanosomes in melanocytes(By similarity).

Descripción

RAB32, member RAS oncogene family (RAB32) is a GTPase involved in the regulation of mitochondrial function and intracellular vesicle trafficking RAB32 has been shown to play a role in mitochondrial dynamics, particularly in the sorting and distribution of proteins to mitochondria, which are crucial for cellular energy production and metabolism In addition to its role in mitochondrial maintenance, RAB32 also participates in the regulation of vesicular trafficking within the cell, ensuring proper sorting of proteins and lipids to various cellular compartments RAB32’s function is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by coordinating processes such as autophagy, vesicle recycling, and intracellular protein degradation Furthermore, RAB32 has been implicated in the regulation of cell signaling, especially in the context of cell survival and response to stress RAB32’s dysfunction can contribute to diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders and cancer, where impaired cellular trafficking and mitochondrial dysfunction lead to cellular stress and uncontrolled growth
