Descripción
RAB24, member RAS oncogene family (RAB24) is a small GTPase involved in regulating vesicular trafficking and protein sorting within cells RAB24 plays a critical role in autophagy, a process essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by degrading and recycling damaged organelles and proteins RAB24 assists in the formation of autophagosomes and their fusion with lysosomes, enabling the degradation and recycling of cellular waste products Additionally, RAB24 is involved in regulating the trafficking of certain proteins to the lysosome, impacting the quality control of cellular proteins and the clearance of damaged components This makes RAB24 important for cellular survival and function under stress conditions such as nutrient deprivation or oxidative stress RAB24 also participates in regulating cellular responses to environmental changes and maintaining protein integrity by promoting the clearance of misfolded proteins In cancer, RAB24 has been implicated in modulating autophagic processes that influence tumor growth and metastasis by affecting cell survival pathways and resistance to chemotherapy
