Description

Involved in membrane trafficking between the Golgi complex and endosomes during early embryonic development. Regulates the Golgi to endosome transport of FGFR-containing vesicles during early development, a key process for developing basement membrane and epiblast and primitive endoderm lineages during early postimplantation development. May act by modulating the kinesin KIF16B-cargo association to endosomes(By similarity). Regulates, together with its guanine nucleotide exchange factor DENND6A, the specific endocytic transport of ADAM10, N-cadherin/CDH2 shedding and cell-cell adhesion.

Descripción

RAB14, member RAS oncogene family (RAB14) is another GTPase that regulates vesicle trafficking, particularly in the movement of vesicles between endosomes and the plasma membrane RAB14 is involved in processes such as the recycling of internalized receptors, which is important for maintaining proper cell surface protein levels and ensuring efficient signaling pathways It also plays a role in regulating endosome dynamics and sorting, contributing to the proper functioning of lysosomes and autophagy pathways RAB14 has been shown to be important for cell adhesion and migration, as it influences the transport of integrins and other key membrane proteins involved in these processes Additionally, RAB14 is implicated in regulating immune cell function, where it contributes to the trafficking of immune receptors and cytokines, playing a role in inflammation and immune responses Dysregulation of RAB14 is associated with several diseases, including cancer, where altered vesicular trafficking can contribute to tumor metastasis and resistance to treatment Further, RAB14’s role in vesicular transport and receptor recycling makes it a significant factor in cellular homeostasis and the regulation of various signaling pathways
