Background

GNRHR2 is a paralog of GNRHR and a putative G protein-coupled receptor with structural similarity to the type 1 receptor (GNRHR). While GNRHR2 is functional in non-mammalian vertebrates, its role in humans remains controversial, as the gene is considered a pseudogene in some populations. However, evidence suggests that truncated or alternatively spliced variants of GNRHR2 may be expressed in human tissues, including the reproductive system, placenta, and certain tumors.
