Background

ANPEP, also known as alanyl aminopeptidase or aminopeptidase N (APN), is a key membrane-bound enzyme that plays a significant role in the hydrolysis of peptides. The gene ANPEP encodes this enzyme, which is expressed predominantly on the surface of epithelial cells in the small intestine, kidney, and other tissues, and also in certain immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and granulocytes.
