Descripción
CARD6 is part of the caspase recruitment domain family of proteins and is involved in the regulation of immune cell signaling, particularly in response to stress and inflammation. CARD6 is expressed in various tissues, including immune cells, and is believed to play a role in controlling NF-κB signaling pathways. While it shares the CARD domain with other family members like CARD9 and CARD8, CARD6 has distinct functions, including its involvement in apoptosis and inflammatory responses. It can modulate both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signaling, making it an important protein in the balance of immune activation. CARD6 is a protein that contains a caspase recruitment domain (CARD), an antiparallel six-helical bundle that mediates homotypic protein-protein interactions. The encoded protein is a microtubule-associated protein that has been shown to interact with receptor-interacting protein kinases and positively modulate signal transduction pathways converging on activation of the inducible transcription factor NF-kB.
