Descripción
CARD14, also known as CARMA2 (Caspase Recruitment Domain-Containing Membrane-Associated Protein 2), is a protein that plays an important role in immune cell signaling, especially in the activation of NF-κB and other inflammatory pathways. It acts as an adaptor protein in the NF-κB signaling cascade, which is crucial for the immune response to pathogens. CARD14 is involved in various immune system functions, including the regulation of cytokine production and the activation of immune cells in response to infection. Recent studies have shown that CARD14 mutations are associated with psoriasis, an autoimmune skin disorder, suggesting that its regulation of immune responses is vital for maintaining immune system balance. Inappropriate activation or suppression of CARD14 may lead to the development of chronic inflammatory diseases, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions in conditions such as psoriasis and other immune-related diseases.
