Descripción

ANKRD13B is closely related to ANKRD13A and shares similar functions involving protein trafficking and ubiquitination. It contains ankyrin repeat domains that facilitate the interaction with other proteins and regulate their localization and stability. ANKRD13B is implicated in the endocytic pathway, where it modulates the internalization and degradation of plasma membrane proteins, including signaling receptors. It is also thought to play a role in sorting proteins for lysosomal degradation. Disruption of ANKRD13B function may impair protein turnover, contributing to cellular stress and disease progression. Studies suggest that ANKRD13B may be involved in pathways relevant to tumorigenesis and cellular signaling, where altered protein recycling can affect growth factor receptor activity and downstream signaling cascades.
