Lipase that preferentially hydrolysis medium-chain saturated monoacylglycerols including 2-arachidonoylglycerol(PubMed:22969151). Through 2-arachidonoylglycerol degradation may regulate endocannabinoid signaling pathways. May also have a lysophosphatidyl lipase activity with a preference for lysophosphatidylglycerol among other lysophospholipids(By similarity).

Descripción
ABHD6 is a serine hydrolase that modulates lipid signaling by hydrolyzing monoacylglycerols, including 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), a key endocannabinoid. Through its regulation of 2-AG levels, ABHD6 influences cannabinoid receptor signaling, which affects processes such as pain perception, appetite, and inflammation. ABHD6 is expressed in multiple tissues, including the brain, pancreas, and immune cells, where it plays roles in synaptic activity, glucose homeostasis, and immune responses. It has also been implicated in neuroinflammation and metabolic disorders, with potential links to diseases such as Alzheimer’s and diabetes.
