Background

ANAPC4 is a key structural subunit of the Anaphase-Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C), a multi-subunit E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls the progression of the cell cycle by targeting regulatory proteins for proteasomal degradation. ANAPC4 interacts with other core components, including ANAPC1 and ANAPC5, to form the scaffold that supports APC/C assembly and its enzymatic function. ANAPC4 plays an essential role in facilitating the ubiquitination of substrates such as cyclin B and securin, ensuring their degradation for the metaphase-to-anaphase transition and mitotic exit.
