Descripción

ADCY5 is a G-protein-regulated, membrane-bound enzyme highly expressed in the heart and brain. It is critical for cardiac function, including regulating heart rate and contractility through cAMP production. In the brain, ADCY5 mediates dopamine signaling and contributes to motor control. Mutations in ADCY5 have been linked to familial dyskinesia and neurological movement disorders. It is also implicated in cardiac pathologies, such as heart failure, due to its central role in cAMP-dependent signaling in cardiomyocytes.
