This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein.

Descripción

ADD2 encodes beta-adducin, a component of the adducin protein family that works synergistically with alpha-adducin to regulate actin-spectrin interactions in the cytoskeleton. It is expressed predominantly in erythrocytes and the brain, where it contributes to maintaining the structural integrity of cell membranes and regulating intracellular signaling pathways. In erythrocytes, beta-adducin enhances membrane stability by crosslinking spectrin and actin filaments, ensuring the proper mechanical properties of red blood cells. Beta-adducin has also been implicated in neuronal development, particularly in synapse formation and function. Dysregulation or mutations in ADD2 are linked to neurological disorders, including cognitive impairments, and may exacerbate structural defects in red blood cells, contributing to anemia or other hematological abnormalities.
