Descripción
ACBD7 is a cytoplasmic protein with a less well-defined function compared to other members of the ACBD family. It contains an acyl-CoA-binding domain, suggesting a role in intracellular lipid metabolism, particularly in binding and transporting acyl-CoA esters. ACBD7 is expressed in specific tissues, including the brain, where it may influence lipid signaling pathways and neuronal function. Emerging evidence suggests that ACBD7 could play a role in energy metabolism and feeding behavior regulation, potentially acting as a molecular mediator in lipid-sensing pathways. Further studies are needed to fully elucidate its physiological and pathological roles, but its expression pattern suggests a link to metabolic regulation and neurobiology.
