Descripción
ACBD6 is a cytosolic protein that binds long-chain acyl-CoA molecules, contributing to intracellular lipid trafficking and metabolism. It plays a role in organizing lipid droplets, regulating fatty acid activation, and facilitating metabolic pathways that rely on lipid substrates. ACBD6 is expressed in metabolically active tissues, including the liver and adipose tissue, where it supports energy homeostasis and lipid storage. Beyond its metabolic roles, ACBD6 may also influence cellular signaling pathways by regulating the availability of bioactive lipid intermediates. Emerging evidence links ACBD6 to immune cell function, particularly in lipid antigen presentation.
