Descripción

Activity-dependent neuroprotector homeobox protein 2 (ADNP2) is a homolog of ADNP, part of the homeobox-containing transcription factor family involved in chromatin remodeling and gene regulation critical for cellular and neuronal processes ADNP2 is implicated in neurogenesis, neuronal survival, and synaptic plasticity, with studies indicating its role in brain development and maintenance of central nervous system integrity While its functions overlap with ADNP, emerging evidence suggests additional distinct roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and response to oxidative stress ADNP2 interacts with chromatin-modifying complexes, regulating genes associated with neuronal health and cognitive function Dysregulation of ADNP2 has been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, and impaired synaptic function Recent findings also connect ADNP2 to cancer biology, where it can regulate cell cycle progression and survival pathways Moreover, ADNP2 may influence immune system modulation, participating in cellular stress responses and transcriptional networks that control neuronal and immune homeostasis
