Background
ACTR3B is a paralog of ACTR3 but has specialized tissue-specific roles, particularly in the brain and immune system. Like ACTR3, it contributes to actin filament nucleation and remodeling as part of ARP2/3-like complexes. However, ACTR3B may have unique regulatory interactions, enabling fine-tuning of cytoskeletal dynamics in specific cellular environments. Its expression is critical for neuronal development and immune cell activation. Defects in ACTR3B have been associated with neurological impairments, suggesting its unique role in actin-mediated processes.
