Descripción

ABLIM2 is a member of the actin-binding LIM protein family, involved in actin filament organization and signal transduction. It contains LIM domains that mediate interactions with various cytoskeletal and signaling proteins, and its actin-binding domains allow it to associate with the actin cytoskeleton. ABLIM2 is highly expressed in sensory neurons and the retina, where it plays a role in maintaining cytoskeletal integrity and supporting neural signaling pathways. This protein is also implicated in processes such as axonal growth and guidance, as well as in mechanotransduction, the conversion of mechanical stimuli into biochemical signals. Dysregulation of ABLIM2 may contribute to sensory neuron dysfunction and retinal degeneration, underscoring its role in neural development and maintenance. Its interaction with cytoskeletal proteins highlights its significance in cellular architecture and mechanical signal processing.
