Descripción

Thyroid hormone receptor beta (THRB) is another member of the thyroid hormone receptor family, responsible for mediating the effects of thyroid hormones on gene expression Like THRA, THRB binds to thyroid hormones, primarily triiodothyronine (T3), and regulates the expression of genes involved in metabolism, development, and growth THRB is highly expressed in tissues such as the liver, kidney, and heart, where it plays a central role in regulating metabolic processes, including carbohydrate metabolism, lipid metabolism, and cholesterol homeostasis The receptor also influences the development of the central nervous system, particularly in processes like neuronal differentiation and maturation Mutations in THRB can cause a variety of thyroid-related disorders, including the thyroid hormone resistance syndrome, which leads to clinical features such as goiter, heart problems, and developmental delays in children In addition, THRB is implicated in cardiovascular health, where its dysfunction can contribute to arrhythmias, and in metabolic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, due to its critical role in regulating energy metabolism and glucose homeostasis

Thyroid Hormone Receptor Beta (THRB) Antibody

THRB Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against THRB. The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear hormone receptor for triiodothyronine. It is one of the several receptors for thyroid hormone, and has been shown to mediate the biological activities of thyroid hormone. Knockout studies in mice suggest that the different receptors, while having certain extent of redundancy, may mediate different functions of thyroid hormone. Mutations in this gene are known to be a cause of generalized thyroid hormone resistance (GTHR), a syndrome characterized by goiter and high levels of circulating thyroid hormone (T3-T4), with normal or slightly elevated thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
