Biological Activity: The activity was measured by the ability to cleave the peptide substrate Suc-Ala-Ala Pro-Phe-pNA. The reaction was performed in 160 mM Tris-HCl, 1.6 M NaCl, pH 7.4. Recombinant Rat CTSG was diluted to different concentrations and the reaction was initiated by adding 50 µl of CTSG to 50 µl of substrate (1 mM) and then read at 405 nm in kinetic mode for 5 minutes. The specific activity of recombinant rat CTSG is > 70 pmol/min/µg.

To keep the original salt concentration, we recommend reconstituting to the original concentration prior to lyophilization (see Concentration) in ddH2O. If a lower concentration is required, dilute in 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4. If a higher concentration is required, the product can be reconstituted directly in 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4, though please note that this will change the overall salt concentration. The stock concentration should be between 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex.
