Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
ADHFE1 is a unique alcohol dehydrogenase that utilizes iron as a cofactor, distinguishing it from other zinc-dependent ADH family members. This enzyme is expressed in the brain and liver, where it plays an important role in metabolizing hydroxyacid substrates such as 4-hydroxybutyrate, also known as gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB). ADHFE1 is particularly involved in pathways related to the metabolism of hydroxy acids, contributing to energy production and cellular detoxification. Dysregulation or mutations in ADHFE1 can lead to the accumulation of hydroxyacid metabolites, which has been implicated in neurometabolic disorders and toxic encephalopathies. Its function in oxidative stress response and the regulation of hydroxyacid levels highlights its importance in maintaining brain and liver health. Although its direct role in ethanol metabolism is minimal, ADHFE1’s broader metabolic functions make it a significant enzyme in hydroxyacid processing and cellular energy dynamics.
