Descripción
ACBD4 is a member of the acyl-CoA-binding domain protein family, which is involved in intracellular lipid metabolism and transport. ACBD4 is expressed in multiple tissues and functions as a binding protein for acyl-CoA, facilitating the transport of acyl-CoA esters to specific subcellular locations for lipid biosynthesis, beta-oxidation, or storage. It is localized to the cytoplasm and plays a role in cellular lipid homeostasis. While the precise physiological roles of ACBD4 are still being elucidated, it is believed to influence processes such as membrane lipid remodeling and signaling. Dysregulation of ACBD4 may be implicated in metabolic disorders where lipid balance is disrupted, such as obesity or fatty liver disease.
