Descripción
RAB39A, member RAS oncogene family (RAB39A) is a GTPase that is involved in intracellular vesicular trafficking, specifically in regulating the movement of vesicles between the endosomes and other organelles such as the Golgi apparatus or the plasma membrane RAB39A helps maintain cellular homeostasis by ensuring the correct sorting of proteins and lipids between different cellular compartments, influencing processes like receptor recycling, protein synthesis, and degradation Furthermore, RAB39A plays a role in autophagy, where it helps in the formation and maturation of autophagosomes, which are responsible for degrading damaged cellular components This protein is also involved in regulating cell signaling, particularly in immune responses and cellular communication pathways Dysregulation of RAB39A can contribute to conditions such as cancer, where abnormal vesicular trafficking supports tumor growth and metastasis, as well as neurodegenerative diseases where impaired autophagy and protein aggregation lead to cellular damage
