Descripción
RAB33A, member RAS oncogene family (RAB33A) is involved in regulating vesicle transport and the movement of proteins and lipids between the Golgi apparatus, endosomes, and plasma membrane RAB33A plays a crucial role in intracellular membrane trafficking, ensuring the proper sorting, recycling, and delivery of cellular components to their destinations It is particularly important for the regulation of autophagy, where it contributes to the formation and maturation of autophagosomes, which are essential for degrading and recycling damaged cellular material Additionally, RAB33A is implicated in controlling the dynamics of endocytosis, a key process for the uptake of extracellular molecules into the cell, and exocytosis, which is the release of molecules from the cell via vesicular fusion RAB33A’s role in these processes links it to various cellular functions, including signal transduction, cell migration, and immune responses RAB33A’s dysfunction has been linked to disorders such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, where altered trafficking processes lead to cellular dysfunction, loss of homeostasis, and abnormal growth
