Descripción
Myosin VIIA and Rab interacting protein (MYRIP) is a protein that interacts with both myosin VIIA (MYO7A) and Rab proteins, which are involved in cellular transport and vesicular trafficking MYRIP acts as an adaptor protein, linking the motor protein MYO7A to Rab GTPases, which are involved in the regulation of vesicle movement within cells MYRIP is especially important in sensory cells, such as the photoreceptor cells in the retina and hair cells in the inner ear, where it aids in the transport of cargo along actin filaments and ensures proper cellular function MYRIP’s role in facilitating the transport of proteins and organelles to their correct locations within cells is critical for maintaining the integrity of sensory cells, and disruptions in MYRIP function are associated with retinitis pigmentosa and hearing loss MYRIP’s involvement in both auditory and visual sensory function highlights its importance for sensory health
