Descripción

PTPRR is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in regulating signal transduction pathways critical for neuronal function and development. Structurally, PTPRR contains a single transmembrane domain and an intracellular phosphatase domain. It is primarily expressed in the central nervous system (CNS), particularly in the brain and cerebellum. PTPRR is involved in modulating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling by dephosphorylating and inactivating ERK1/2, thereby regulating neuronal differentiation, synaptic plasticity, and signal propagation. PTPRR isoforms differ in size and localization due to alternative splicing, including membrane-bound and cytosolic forms. Mutations or dysregulation of PTPRR have been associated with neurological disorders such as ataxia and cognitive deficits. PTPRR also participates in cellular responses to external stimuli by modulating kinase activity. Its regulatory role in neuronal signaling underscores its importance in brain development, synaptic transmission, and neurodegenerative disease processes.

PTPRR antibody

Sequesters mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPKs) such as MAPK1, MAPK3 and MAPK14 in the cytoplasm in an inactive form. The MAPKs bind to a dephosphorylated kinase interacting motif, phosphorylation of which by the protein kinase A complex releases the MAPKs for activation and translocation into the nucleus(By similarity).
