Observed MW | Molecular Weight: Calculated MW: 23.0 kDa Observed MW (SDS-PAGE): 25 kDa, 27 kDa Possible reasons why the actual band size differs from the predicted band size: 1. Splice variants. Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene. 2. Relative charge. The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein. 3. Post-translational modification. Phosphorylation, glycoslyation, methylation etc. may affect the band size. 4. Post-translational cleavage. Many proteins are synthesised as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form. 5. Polymerisation of the target protein. Dimerisation, multimerisation etc. will increase the band size observed. Concentration: Prior to lyophilization: 200 µg/ml Sequence Fragment: Leu2-Glu171 Tag: N-terminal His tag |

Form | Lyophilized To keep the original salt concentration, we recommend reconstituting to the original concentration prior to lyophilization (see Concentration) in ddH2O. If a lower concentration is required, dilute in PBS, pH 7.4. If a higher concentration is required, the product can be reconstituted directly in PBS, pH 7.4, though please note that this will change the overall salt concentration. The stock concentration should be between 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. |
Tested Applications | WB, SDS-PAGE |
Buffer | Prior to lyophilization: PBS, pH 7.4, containing 0.01% Sarcosyl, 1 mM DTT, 5% Trehalose and Proclin-300. |

Descripción
Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein (ORM1), also known as orosomucoid, is an acute-phase plasma protein predominantly synthesized in the liver. ORM1 is a part of the acute-phase response, where its levels in the blood increase in response to inflammation, infection, or injury. It is a 43-44 kDa glycoprotein well known as a one of the major acute phase proteins in humans, rats and many other spices The carbohydrate content represents 45% of the molecular weight attached in the form of five to six highly sialylated complex-type-N-linked glycans.ORM1 has since been studied extensively for its role in immune regulation, drug binding, and inflammation.

Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction.
