Background

TMED11 is a member of the p24 family of transmembrane proteins involved in vesicular trafficking within the secretory pathway it plays a key role in the transport of proteins between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi apparatus as well as in maintaining the integrity of the Golgi complex TMED11 is thought to function as a cargo receptor facilitating the selection and transport of specific proteins during vesicular budding and fusion events studies suggest it also participates in retrograde trafficking from the Golgi to the ER ensuring proper recycling of vesicle components and maintaining cellular homeostasis TMED11 is implicated in processes such as protein sorting and maturation immune signaling and ER stress responses its dysregulation has been linked to defects in protein trafficking and diseases such as neurodegeneration and cancer further research aims to elucidate its precise interactions with other trafficking machinery components and its potential as a therapeutic target in disorders involving vesicular transport dysfunction
