Note
The validity for this kit is at least 6 months. Up to 12 months validity can be provided on request. This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein.

Descripción

CD63 molecule (CD63) is a transmembrane protein that belongs to the tetraspanin family, widely expressed in a variety of cell types and tissues. It plays a significant role in multiple biological processes, including immune response, cell adhesion, and intracellular trafficking. CD63 is prominently localized on late endosomes, lysosomes, and the plasma membrane, where it participates in the regulation of membrane fusion and vesicle trafficking. One of its most recognized roles is as a marker of exosomes, small extracellular vesicles released by cells, which makes it pivotal in cell-to-cell communication and a key target in exosome research for diagnostics and therapeutics. CD63 also interacts with integrins and other tetraspanins, facilitating cell adhesion and migration, processes that are critical in immune surveillance and tissue repair. It is involved in the activation of basophils and mast cells, contributing to allergic responses. Additionally, aberrations in CD63 expression or function are linked to pathological conditions, such as cancer metastasis, where it influences tumor cell invasiveness and immune evasion. Its expression has also been implicated in autoimmune diseases and infections. Given its multifunctional role and association with several diseases, CD63 continues to be an important molecule in immunological and biomedical research.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. The encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that is known to complex with integrins. It may function as a blood platelet activation marker. Deficiency of this protein is associated with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome. Also this gene has been associated with tumor progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms.
