It is an aspartyl intramembrane protease, has been implicated in the proteolysis of TNF-alpha, Fas Ligand and Bri2 and endogenous signal-peptide-peptidase-like2A(SPPL2a) is localised in lysosomes/late endosomes(PMID:21896273).
