Descripción
SEMA3F (Semaphorin 3F) functions as a potent mediator of axonal guidance, angiogenesis, and tumor suppression. It exerts its effects primarily through interactions with neuropilin-2 (NRP2) and plexin receptors, inducing cytoskeletal changes that promote repulsion in axonal and endothelial cells. SEMA3F plays a pivotal role in neural development by regulating neuronal wiring and synaptic connectivity. In the vascular system, it acts as an anti-angiogenic factor, inhibiting abnormal vessel growth. Its expression is often downregulated in various cancers, correlating with increased tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential. Therapeutic strategies targeting SEMA3F aim to restore its expression to curb tumor progression and improve neural repair.
