Gamma Glutamyl Cyclotransferase (GGCT) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in glutathione metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of gamma-glutamyl peptides to 5-oxoproline and free amino acids. GGCT is involved in maintaining cellular redox balance and regulating glutathione homeostasis, which is essential for cellular protection against oxidative stress and detoxification processes.
