Descripción
ADCY10, also known as soluble adenylate cyclase (sAC), differs from other ADCY isoforms as it is soluble and not membrane-bound. It is activated by bicarbonate ions and calcium, making it essential for pH and metabolic regulation. ADCY10 is involved in processes such as sperm motility, capacitation, and fertilization in the reproductive system. It also regulates cellular metabolism, mitochondrial respiration, and renal acid-base homeostasis. Mutations in ADCY10 have been associated with male infertility and metabolic dysfunctions, underscoring its significance in reproductive and cellular physiology.
