Descripción
Matrix Remodeling Associated 5 (MXRA5) is a glycoprotein involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) organization and tissue remodeling. It plays a significant role in maintaining ECM integrity, regulating cell adhesion, and modulating cellular responses during tissue repair and remodeling. MXRA5 expression is associated with processes such as wound healing, fibrosis, and inflammation, where ECM dynamics are critical. Dysregulation of MXRA5 has been linked to fibrotic diseases and cancer, particularly in the tumor microenvironment, where it promotes cell migration, invasion, and metastasis by altering ECM composition and structure. Studies suggest that MXRA5 may also influence immune responses by modulating cytokine signaling pathways. Its potential as a biomarker for certain cancers and fibrotic conditions is under investigation, and it represents a promising therapeutic target for diseases associated with abnormal ECM remodeling. Further research is required to fully understand its molecular mechanisms and functional significance in health and disease.
