Descripción
LIMS3 is a member of the LIM-domain-containing protein family, though it is less well-characterized compared to LIMS1 and LIMS2. It is believed to play a role in focal adhesion dynamics, cytoskeletal organization, and integrin-mediated signaling. LIMS3 contains LIM domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions, potentially linking it to actin cytoskeleton remodeling and cellular adhesion processes. Its expression appears to be tissue-specific, with enrichment in skeletal muscle, cardiac tissue, and certain epithelial cells. While the exact biological functions remain unclear, emerging evidence suggests LIMS3 may contribute to mechanical stress responses, tissue remodeling, and cell migration. Dysregulation of LIMS3 is associated with structural tissue defects and may play a role in tumor progression and metastasis. Functional studies are needed to define its precise roles in integrin signaling, cellular adhesion, and tissue-specific development.
