Descripción
SERPINB13 is a member of the serine protease inhibitor (serpin) superfamily, known for regulating proteolytic enzymes, particularly serine proteases, which are critical in numerous physiological and pathological processes. The B clade of the serpin family, to which SERPINB13 belongs, is characterized by its intracellular localization. This protein is expressed predominantly in epithelial cells and has been implicated in various biological processes, including cell differentiation, inflammation, and potentially tumor suppression. The serpin family is composed of proteins that inhibit proteases by forming stable complexes, preventing excessive proteolysis and maintaining homeostasis. Dysregulation of serpin activity can lead to a variety of diseases, including inflammatory conditions, fibrosis, and cancers.
