Descripción
RAB27B, member RAS oncogene family (RAB27B) is a small GTPase that plays a significant role in intracellular vesicular trafficking, particularly in the movement of secretory vesicles to the plasma membrane It is involved in regulating the exocytosis of lysosome-related organelles, such as melanosomes and secretory granules, which are critical for processes like pigmentation and immune cell function RAB27B regulates the trafficking of proteins and lipids, ensuring proper cellular function and membrane recycling It also plays a role in cell adhesion and migration by controlling the delivery of integrins and other cell surface proteins In immune cells, RAB27B is important for cytotoxic T lymphocyte function, contributing to the release of cytotoxic granules that target and destroy infected or cancerous cells Dysregulation of RAB27B is associated with several diseases, including Griscelli syndrome and autoimmune conditions, where defects in vesicular trafficking impair immune response, pigmentation, and organ function RAB27B also has implications in cancer progression, where altered vesicular trafficking contributes to tumor invasion and metastasis
