Human c-Yes Protein is a recombinant protein from Human produced in Baculovirus-Insect Cells. A DNA sequence encoding the human YES1 (NP_005424.1) (Gly 2-Leu 543) was fused with the N-terminal polyhistidine-tagged GST tag at the N-terminus.

It promotes infectivity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in epithelial cells by phosphorylating MCP/CD46. YES1 catalyzes the reaction: ATP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine = ADP + a [protein]-L-tyrosine phosphate. This gene is the cellular homolog of the Yamaguchi sarcoma virus oncogene. The encoded protein has tyrosine kinase activity and belongs to the src family of proteins. This gene lies in close proximity to thymidylate synthase gene on chromosome 18, and a corresponding pseudogene has been found on chromosome 22.
