Nucleosome assembly protein 1 like 4 (NAP1L4) is a protein involved in chromatin remodeling and nucleosome assembly, playing a key role in maintaining the structure and function of chromatin during gene regulation and DNA repair NAP1L4 is part of the NAP1 family of proteins that are involved in facilitating the dynamic assembly and disassembly of nucleosomes, allowing for access to DNA for transcription, replication, and repair processes Its activity is essential for the proper functioning of transcription factors and other chromatin-associated proteins that regulate gene expression and cellular response to stress NAP1L4’s role in maintaining chromatin integrity also extends to the regulation of the cell cycle, where it contributes to the proper progression of cell division and genomic stability Dysregulation of NAP1L4 has been linked to diseases such as cancer, where altered nucleosome assembly contributes to the misregulation of gene expression and the development of tumors NAP1L4’s involvement in DNA repair and chromatin dynamics highlights its importance in maintaining cellular function and preventing diseases associated with genomic instability
