Descripción
MYBPC2 is primarily localized in fast-twitch skeletal muscles, where it plays a pivotal role in regulating sarcomere assembly and ensuring efficient muscle contraction during rapid and high-force activities. This protein associates with the thick filaments and modulates the interactions between myosin and actin filaments, contributing to the functional stability of the sarcomere under dynamic conditions. Dysregulation or mutations in MYBPC2 may compromise muscle performance, particularly in activities requiring bursts of strength or speed, and can lead to structural instability within muscle fibers. MYBPC2 continues to be investigated for its potential involvement in muscle diseases and as a marker of muscle adaptation or dysfunction.
